Moments in the Light:8 Photographs by Edward Levinson + 8 Haiku by Maria Papatzelou. A small Haikou black and white tale.

scattered rocks
of the divine couple,
eight clouds above

uncontinuous path
the tree whispers
following your sacred step

masks of stone
I stumpled upon
smilling in sorrow

no light ahead
the fog held
a secret staircase

our liquid sky
rolled upwards in the horizon,
silent leaves moving

waiting
an endless game
in matte motion

closer to oblivion
the hours are still,
holding your present

going down
you swallow time,
will it return?

Edward Levinson

Moments in the Light is my visual story received through all the senses. The simplicity of using pinhole cameras blends well with a concept I call ‘Visual Stimulation and the Unthinking Mind’. Similar to the spirit of Zen, the empty black pinhole “box” and even the sensor of a digital camera, are spaces where light and feelings, inner and outer environments come together. I become the object that is painted by the light.

Edward Levinson

A note about pinhole photography:
Pinhole photography uses a simple pinhole to let the light into the camera, rather than a sharp glass lens, thus creating softer images. The small pinhole aperture requires a long exposure time to record images, filling them with movement and surprising observations about time and place.
